Apart from inculcating scientific temperament among school children, Disha is an attempt to reach out to potential students for FoCh in the subsequent academic year. We share our contact details with 10th standard students so that they can get in touch with us in case they need assistance to pursue higher studies.
Disha-2010
FoCh Day 2010
It was also an occasion for us to thank our donors, supporters, and well-wishers and at the same time outline the challenges for the year ahead. Interaction with parents and donors alike is a valuable component of determining the direction of our efforts. Students shared their experiences and also showcased their talents in the program that included dance, songs, drama, etc.
Most importantly, it was an occasion for all of us to take pride in the successes of our students, most of whom write their own success stories, despite trying circumstances. The graduates were felicitated and the efforts of successful PUC II students were recognized.

FoCh in the news

Majja Run – A grand success
The focus of participation was two fold – bringing about an awareness of the trust and its activities, and also to spread the message of ‘Higher education for all’.
FoCh realises that many parents, shelter-homes and schools do a commendable job in educating children upto Class 10, despite difficult circumstances. However, it is the years immediately after completing Class 10 that play a large role in how a child shapes his future. The importance of right intervention at this stage cannot be further emphasized and the volunteers of FoCh tried to highlight this at the event.
The Majja Run itself was a 5.7 km walk and FoCh group was more than 80 strong including some children. It was great to see everybody trying to put a great effort to walk together as a team – shouting slogans, making friends and having fun. The team wore graduate hats prepared by the students themselves and carried some interesting placards and banners. The highlight of the props were a Big Book and a Big Pen – the making of which took a couple of sleepless nights in a row.
The walking together was in many ways symbolic of FoCh’s efforts in helping children pursue higher education. In the last 9 years, the volunteers have walked with more than 250 children, helping many in crossing the finish line of graduation – beyond which lies a new begining. And like every marathoner who feels a wave of energy when the onlookers cheer, our students too can egg-on and reach the finish line of graduation – all they need is a little bit of support and a lot of encouragement.
Graduate Hats-Off to the Majja Run team – Anil, Deepak, Murtuza, Akash, Usha, Sunand, Divya, Harish, …
